Recent Forrester Research market data found that 42% of on-line adults, and 55% of on-line youth want to engage with their favorite brands through social applications. Data from Nielson Co. shows the number of individuals actively using community web sites is now greater than the number of active users of personal email, and growing at a 50% faster rate. On the business side, surveys show that 72% of marketers have been using social media for just 3 months or less.
